The Gift

What an awesome gift

What an awesome God

Who looked down at Earth's spinning sod

and saw the state of fallen men

All riddled, ruined, and filled with sin

He grieved at his created kids...

gone to the dogs, and on the skids

He thought, "How can I make them see

the people they were meant to be?

It's time to implement My plan

to rescue sinful, fallen man

I'm going to send my precious Son

It seems that He's the only One

Who knows the way back to the Source

He'll show the way, correct their course

I know that it may not go well

to send Him down on Earth to dwell

for darkness hates the light of day

and lost mankind resists the Way

but it's the only hope I see

to bring My children back to Me."

And so He came and bore the pain

the suffering, sickness, sin, to gain

eternal life for all, for free.

A cruel death He died for me!

How can we not appreciate

that He would die nailed to a stake

and pay the price it took to save

mankind from a final grave,

to give us life instead of death,

the life of God, His very breath

He breathed into my sinful soul

A reborn spirit, healed and whole
